How payments and invoices work on Withlocals
Withlocals is a platform that connects you with guests. This creates two types of relationships:
1. You and your guest
As a host, you’re responsible for delivering the experience. That also means:
You need to provide your guest with an invoice or receipt for the total amount of the experience. You handle any taxes that may apply (like VAT or sales tax).
2. You and Withlocals
Withlocals provides the platform and support to help you host experiences. For this service, we charge a fee. We’ll issue invoices to you for this fee, which may include VAT depending on your location and business setup.
How the payment flow works
A guest books your tour through Withlocals. The guest pays the full amount to Withlocals. This money is held securely in escrow until the experience takes place. After you’ve completed the tour, the payout is processed automatically. You’ll receive the guest’s full payment, minus the Withlocals service fee.
Important for you as a host
Always provide an invoice or receipt for the total tour amount (whether you do this as a business or individual depends on your status). Make sure you pay any taxes due on your earnings. Keep clear records of all receipts, invoices, and related expenses. Check your local tax rules so you’re fully compliant.
This way, you stay in control of your hosting, while we take care of the platform, payments, and support.
