Licenses

To help stay compliant with local laws, we ask you to upload any tourism-related licenses you may have. This helps us match you with the right types of experiences and may increase your chances of receiving bookings.

You can add your license in the “Licenses” section of your profile.

 

What is a tourism-related license?

A tourism license includes any official permit or document that allows you to guide tours, operate transport, prepare food, or run other tourism-related activities in your country or region.
Examples include:

  • Tour guide certificates;

  • Transport permits;

  • Food handling permits;

  • General tourism operating licenses;

Do I need a license to host on Withlocals?

No, not always. You can host tours without a license if your country or region does not require a license for the type of experience you want to offer. 

However, if your local regulations require a license, it is imperative that you possess a valid one and upload it to your profile. Withlocals may impose restrictions on the experiences you are permitted to offer if this requirement is not fulfilled.

You are responsible to comply with the legal requirements in your area. If you’re unsure whether you need a license, we recommend checking with your local tourism authority or government website. 

 

How to add a license to my profile

  • Head over to your profile and look for Manage Licenses.

  • Press the “Add license” button.

  • Complete the required fields:

    • License type: Choose the type from the dropdown menu.

    • License number: Input the official number found on the document.

    • Expiration date: Enter the expiration date of your license. If it doesn’t expire, just check the “License doesn’t expire” box.

    • Image: Upload a clear photo or scan of your license, ensuring the license number and expiration date are visible.

  • Click Continue to save your information.

You can upload more than one license if needed.

 

Managing your licenses

  • It is possible to edit or remove Licenses added before July 2025 by you directly.

  • Licenses added after July 2025 cannot be edited or removed by you. For changes or removal, please contact us at hosts@withlocals.com.

 

Can guests see my license?
 

No. Your license is only visible to the Withlocals team. It will not be shown on your public profile.

 

What kind of image should I upload?
 

Please upload a clear image or scan of the license. Make sure it includes:

  • The license number

  • Expiration date (if applicable)

  • Your name (if required)

Accepted file types: JPG, PNG, PDF.

 

What if I made a mistake in my license?
 

If you added the license before July 2025, you can edit it directly in your profile. 


If added later than July 2025, contact support and we’ll help you update it.
